The Wholesaler Approved Rate Adjustments. What does that mean for customers?

The Background

The City of Bondurant contracts with Des Moines Water Works for our water supplies. Des Moines Water Works adjusted water rates, which has affected customers in Des Moines, Pleasant Hill, Windsor Heights, and a handful of other small communities that purchase water directly from the utility.

The wholesale price adjustment is $0.35 per thousand gallons of water.

Change to the Water Bill

Effective with bills issued on or after April 1, 2021 water rates will be adjusted to reflect the price charged by Des Moines Water Works to the City of Bondurant. 

For bills issued on or after April 1, the water availability fee will be $6.80 per month. The water usage fee will be $6.80 per 1,000 gallons to reflect the rate adjustment from the wholesale supplier.

Going Forward

The City continues to strive to contain costs and will continue to look for ways to reduce or delay future rate adjustments.
