The City of Bondurant is excited to announce the first major contribution towards the Bondurant Skate Park from the Storey Kenworthy Foundation.

The Bondurant Parks and Recreation Board spearheaded a Central District Stormwater Improvement Master Plan in 2022, which will serve the Bondurant community as a regional destination park. A skate park is included in this master plan, bringing an amenity that Bondurant doesn’t have today.  The City Council adopted the master plan on November 7, 2022.

The skate park will include ramps, pipes, stair sets, and bowls. The park will identify a unique, signature piece to define the skate park, integrate stormwater management to create a consistent theme with the overall park, and create an accessible and inclusive place for a variety of skill levels. The skate park concept includes a three-phased approach. The bowl is the favorite skate feature and the park's distinguished feature. This feature is strong enough to draw skaters to the park and provide a complete experience. Yet, a transition area and a civic plaza add to the flexibility and variety offered in the skate park and welcomes a wider variety of citizens. More specific features in the skate park potentially include a mini vert and a graffiti wall.

Since 2016, Storey Kenworthy has awarded grants to organizations throughout Iowa whose programs and projects align with their key-giving priorities. Storey Kenworthy believes in investing in “community.” From day one, they’ve prioritized community engagement and giving-back.

During the Tuesday, January 17, 2023 Bondurant City Council meeting, Storey Kenworthy representative Lincoln Dix presented a $10,000 donation to the council to support the future skate park in Bondurant.

The City of Bondurant is moving forward with additional fundraising and grant writing to secure the funding necessary to build this exciting community amenity.
