Seeking Public Input for the Bondurant Arts, Culture & Wayfinding Plan

Arts, Culture & Wayfinding Plan

The City of Bondurant has hired a team of consultants from Group Creative Services and Confluence to create an Art, Culture & Wayfinding Plan based on input and direction from the community. It is a plan for Bondurant which will identify opportunities to use art and culture to support the goals of the community. But what does “art and culture” and “wayfinding” mean?

“Culture” refers to the customs, social institutions, arts, achievements, and traditions of a particular group. Cultural Assets include things like libraries, parks, theaters, galleries, heritage sites, community centers, and educational facilities.

“Art” encompasses a wide range of mediums, disciplines, and approaches. This includes visual arts such as painting, drawing, photography, and sculptures. It includes performance arts such as theater, music, sound art, installation, film, and video. It includes literary arts, poetry, creative writing, publishing, radio, internet streaming, and television. The Art, Culture & Wayfinding plan will look specifically at public art, which includes both permanent installations of murals and sculptures and temporary engagements like workshops or pop-up activations.

“Wayfinding” refers to a system of signage and other materials that help people find their way around a physical location. Wayfinding signage provides an opportunity to help people navigate Bondurant while using artistic design to display the identity and culture of the community.

There are two ways to provide public input:

  1. A Public Survey - Help us understand Bondurant - what inspires you, and what should be celebrated or enhanced?
  2. A Public Idea Wall - Show us what you love about Bondurant. Give examples of arts, culture, or signage you would love to see in your community!

The Art, Culture & Wayfinding Plan will guide Bondurant – including its city government, artists, and organizations – to maximize art in supporting the goals, needs, and future of the community.
