Bondurant to Host the Only Central Iowa Live Healthy Iowa 5k this Saturday

[Bondurant, Iowa, April 19, 2022] Live Healthy Iowa (LHI) has partnered with 11 communities across Iowa to host the 8th annual Live Healthy Iowa 5K. The events, scheduled for Saturday, April 23, will be held in Anamosa, Bondurant, Carroll, Decorah, Dickinson County, Dike, Fort Dodge, Sergeant Bluff, Sibley, Spencer, and Storm Lake. A virtual option is also being offered. Proceeds from the events will benefit local wellness efforts in these communities, as well as Live Healthy Iowa Kids initiatives.

There is still time to sign up and you can do it onsite before the race Saturday! The Bondurant LHI 5K event will begin and end at the Chichaqua Valley Bondurant Regional Trailhead, better known as The Depot, at 2 Main St SE in downtown Bondurant. The 5K portion of the event will begin at 8:00 am with the 1K kid’s run following at 9:00 am.

All participants will receive a Live Healthy Iowa 5K T-shirt (T-shirts are not available for all late registrations), race number, finisher medal, and the opportunity to win door prizes. The cost is just $30. The 1K kid’s run, for ages 12 and younger, is $5 through race day. For additional event details visit www.livehealthyiowa5k.org.

Special this year, Chuck Long will be making an appearance and will be available for photographs and autographs. Chuck Long is a former American football player and coach who was most recently the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the St. Louis BattleHawks of the XFL. He played quarterback in college at Iowa for Hayden Fry and professionally with the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Rams. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999. After his professional career, Long was an assistant coach at Iowa and Oklahoma before serving as the head football coach at San Diego State. Long also held a position as the offensive coordinator for the Kansas Jayhawks under head coach Turner Gill. Long is the CEO and Executive Director of the Iowa Sports Foundation, as well as an analyst for the Big Ten Network.
