Bondurant Community Library Achieves State Accreditation

Bondurant, IA - The State Library of Iowa proudly announced that the Bondurant Community Library has fulfilled the stringent criteria for state accreditation outlined in the esteemed “In Service to Iowa: Public Library Standards Sixth Edition.” This accomplishment reflects the library's unwavering dedication to providing exceptional library services to its community.

Earning accreditation necessitates a steadfast commitment to upholding superior library services, a commitment that the Bondurant Community Library has demonstrated across all aspects of its operations. This includes governance and funding, staffing, library collection, services, public relations, access, and facilities. The accreditation status, effective from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2026, highlights the library's consistent excellence.

Commending this achievement, State Librarian Michael Scott praised the director and board of trustees of the Bondurant Community Library and the city of Bondurant for their dedication to public library excellence.

Out of Iowa's 543 public libraries, the accreditation is a distinction held by 414, including the Bondurant Community Library. These accredited libraries are esteemed for their responsiveness to community needs and their exemplary library services, which serve as vital resources for almost two-thirds of all Iowans.

In recognition of their accomplishment, accredited libraries enjoy enhanced benefits through the State Library's Enrich Iowa program and receive a Certificate of Accreditation endorsed by prominent figures including Governor Kim Reynolds, Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg, State Librarian Michael Scott, and Iowa Commission of Libraries Chair Zachary Stier.
