City News

[BONDURANT, IA — September 19, 2023] The Prairie Meadows Community Betterment Grants are dedicated to uplifting small-to-medium sized initiatives. These grants play a pivotal role in enhancing the well-being of local communities. From funding meals for underprivileged children to establishing vital free medical facilities, they take immense pride in contributing to the betterment of countless lives across Iowa.

The City of Bondurant has proactively pursued grant funding across various programs to advance a trail connection project. This project is set to link Lake Petocka, Bondurant Recreational Sports Complex (BRSC), and adjacent housing complexes to the North. Thanks to the generous grant of $40,000 awarded through the Prairie Meadows Community Betterment Grant, the city has acquired additional resources to strengthen the implementation of this trail connection.

Recognizing the pressing need for enhanced safety measures, Bondurant Emergency Services has sought funding to install tornado and storm warning systems. Given the expanding population and the challenge of audibility for some residents even within city limits, these systems are crucial. Collaboratively proposed by Mid-American Energy and the Bondurant Public Works Department, the plan is to strategically position these warning systems near Lake Petocka/Bondurant Recreational Sports Complex and off NE Morgan Drive. The Prairie Meadows Community Betterment Grant has generously provided $25,000 to supplement the financial requirements for this crucial project.

Dedicated to fostering active lifestyles among youth, the Prairie Meadows Youth Sports and Recreational Grant Program is committed to supporting qualified youth sports organizations. Addressing the need for improved amenities, the City of Bondurant embarked on a venture to develop a parking lot North of Lake Petocka and West of Highway 65 (Hubbell Ave). With the capacity for approximately 140 parking spaces, this addition is poised to alleviate the shortage of parking during youth recreational activities encompassing soccer, t-ball, baseball, and softball. Through the Prairie Meadows Youth Sports and Recreational Grant, the City has been awarded a generous sum of $10,000 to reinforce the financial aspects of this vital project.

The City of Bondurant extends profound gratitude to Prairie Meadows for their unwavering support, which has paved the way for transformative projects that will uplift the community in Bondurant. Their generosity and commitment to improving lives are propelling positive change in Bondurant. Their partnership empowers us to create a lasting impact, touching the lives of residents young and old, and reinforcing the bonds that make our community stronger than ever.
