Attention Bondurant Residents, we want to inform you about an important development in the Metro Des Moines area. The Polk County Board of Supervisors is taking steps to enhance the Metro Des Moines’s infrastructure, specifically the Des Moines Airport. However, it's important to emphasize that you, the voters, will have the final say in this matter, and it's crucial for Bondurant residents to educate themselves on this issue.

Recently, the Polk County Board of Supervisors approved a bond referendum to be included on the November ballot. If approved by the voters, this referendum will authorize the county to issue $350 million in bonds. The purpose of these bonds is to provide financial support to the Des Moines Airport Authority for crucial upgrades, including the construction of a new terminal and various other improvements. Importantly, the revenue generated from airport operations will be used to repay both the principal and interest on these bonds, without cost to taxpayers.

Here are some reasons this initiative is being pursued:

1. Capacity Boost: The proposed upgrades will result in a 50% increase in airport capacity, making our region more attractive for events, entertainment, and business ventures, which foster growth and opportunities within the Metro Des Moines area.

2. Streamlined Travel: Passengers will experience improved check-in processes, enhanced security measures, and a more efficient baggage claim process. These enhancements aim to elevate the overall travel experience, ensuring that travelers depart with positive impressions of Des Moines.

3. Expanded Flight Options: The new terminal will open doors to new flight options, enhancing connectivity to our region. This expansion will make Des Moines an even more accessible hub for travel, benefitting residents of Bondurant and the entire Metro Des Moines area.

4. No Property Tax Increase: The project will not result in an increase in property taxes. The future of Greater Des Moines' improved air travel infrastructure will not burden your wallet, as it will be fully repaid by the Airport's revenue.

Bondurant residents will have the opportunity to voice their opinion on this bond issue on Election Day, November 7th. Your vote will determine the direction of this project that directly affects our community as part of the Greater Des Moines metropolitan area. We encourage all eligible voters in Bondurant to participate and make your voices heard on this critical matter for our area's future.

Thank you for your engagement and involvement in the democratic process.
