WASHINGTON, D.C.— The City of Bondurant; Marketa Oliver, City Administrator; and Shelby Hagan, City Clerk, will be honored by ICMA, the International City/County Management Association, as the recipient of the organization’s MARC (Maintenance, Access, and Records Compliance) Program ICMA’s Strategic Leadership & Governance award recognizes the innovative and successful local government programs or processes that have significantly affected a local government organization's culture or strategic direction.

As the recipient of ICMA’s Program Excellence Award for Strategic Leadership & Governance, the City of Bondurant will be honored in various platforms including ICMA’s Annual Conference, September 30- October 4, 2023

“The City’s MARC program has helped us streamline records retention and access, reducing our ongoing operational costs by automating functions and eliminating the need for the addition of administrative staff as the community has continued to experience significant growth. The City of Bondurant values innovation and efficiency and this program embodies both of those values,” commended Mayor Doug Elrod.

The ICMA Local Government Excellence Awards Program highlights creative contributions to professional local government management while demonstrating the difference that effective and committed management makes to the quality of life in our communities. ICMA’s program awards are presented to local governments and their chief administrators in recognition of their innovative and successful programs. Program Excellence Awards can have multiple recipients.

Awards are presented to local governments for each of three population ranges: less than 10,000, 10,000 to 49,999, and 50,000 and greater. Multi-participant nominations will be classified in the population range that corresponds to the population of the largest participating organization.

Nominations are evaluated by an independent, 13-person panel of ICMA members.

Marketa Oliver, City Administrator shared, “Our city clerk has effectively created a uniform naming convention that syncs with the State’s records retention requirements and best practices and can easily be replicated. She has also been extremely generous with her time in sharing her innovation with cities across the state. I am excited to be part of such an amazing city leadership team of elected and appointed officials who take a strategic and proactive approach to the full spectrum of issues cities face on a daily basis.”

These recipients set the standard for innovation, effectiveness, and creativity in the cities, towns, counties, and academic institutions they lead. We thank them for their commitment to improving the lives of the constituents they serve every day.

In addition to in-person and virtual conference recognition, the 2023 ICMA award recipients will be highlighted in the September 2023 issue of PM magazine.
