City of Bondurant Announces Special Census Recruitment Drive

NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR 54 SPECIAL CENSUS WORKERS UNTIL THE END OF APRIL
Special Census

[Bondurant, Iowa, March 18, 2024] The City of Bondurant is embarking on a Special Census initiative to accurately reflect the community's population changes since the 2020 Census. This endeavor requires the recruitment of at least 54 dedicated individuals for Field Representative positions.

The demographic landscape of Bondurant has evolved significantly since the last census, necessitating a fresh count to ensure equitable representation and resource allocation. To achieve this, the City is seeking individuals to join as Field Representatives, playing a crucial role in data collection.

Interested applicants can explore employment opportunities on the Chicago Region Employment Opportunities page of the Census Bureau's website or by visiting census.gov. The application process is conducted online, streamlining accessibility for potential candidates.

Field Representative positions are currently open for applications, offering a competitive wage of $18.98 per hour.

Additionally, opportunities for Special Census Supervisor, Clerk, and Field Supervisor roles open in March.

Field Supervisors will receive $22.94 per hour, while clerical staff will earn $18.40 per hour.

Prospective applicants for Field Supervisor and Field Representative roles must meet specific criteria, including:

  • Being at least 18 years old
  • Possessing a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Demonstrating the ability to hear responses and read questionnaires
  • Committing to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, involving extensive walking and stair climbing
  • Flexibility for day, evening, and weekend shifts
  • Availability to attend a four-day training session and pass a background investigation

These positions could suit teachers and school personnel enjoying their summer break, college students seeking temporary work, retirees, individuals looking for an additional source of income, and anyone eager to contribute to our community. Applicants must be 18 years or older and U.S. citizens to apply for these roles with the U.S. Census Bureau.

Important training dates for Field Supervisors and Field Representatives are scheduled as follows:

  • July 22-23, 2024: Administrative Training for Field Supervisors and Field Representatives (tentative)
  • August 26-30, 2024: Operational Training for Field Supervisors
  • September 4-9, 2024: Operational Training for Field Representatives

By participating in the Special Census, individuals have the opportunity to contribute directly to Bondurant’s development and ensure accurate representation for future planning and resource distribution.
