Bondurant Recreational Sports Complex Celebrates Successful Parking Expansion Grand Opening

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mayor Doug Elrod

The Bondurant Recreational Sports Complex (BRSC) is thrilled to announce the successful completion and grand opening of its expanded parking facilities. The project, initiated in response to the growing participation numbers in Bondurant Little League and the addition of soccer fields operated by the Bondurant Soccer Club at BRSC, addresses a critical need for safety and convenience for all visitors. We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who supported this endeavor.

The expanded parking facilities include approximately 142 parking stalls, including ADA-compliant spaces, which will not only reduce congestion on the road leading to the complex but also ensure the safety of participants and spectators attending games.

The support for this project was immense, with various organizations and grants playing a pivotal role. The Mary Bump Foundation graciously acted as the fiscal agent for a $75,000 grant from the Polk County Community Development Grant Program, and Polk County provided invaluable in-kind assistance for project inspection and bidding. The Bondurant Little League secured a $15,000 Prairie Meadows Grant and plans to contribute an additional $5,000, while the Bondurant Soccer Club is also contributing $5,000. The rest of the funding, totaling over $500,000, was sourced from Local Option Sales and Services Tax dollars, approved by Bondurant voters in August 2019.

This parking expansion is the latest investment in the Bondurant Recreational Sports Complex. Over the years, the City and local organizations have continuously supported improvements and enhancements to provide the best recreational experiences for our community.

Mayor Elrod expressed his gratitude, saying, "By addressing the parking needs at the BRSC, this endeavor exemplifies our commitment to fostering safe and enjoyable recreational opportunities for the residents of Bondurant. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who have supported this project."

The City of Bondurant would like to offer a big thank you to all the project funders and supporters, without whom this project would not have been possible.

The grand opening celebration was a resounding success, with local residents and sports enthusiasts joining the event. The new parking facilities were unveiled on Monday, October 9 at 5:15 PM, marking a significant step toward enhancing safety and convenience for youth sports spectators.
