Bondurant Leading the State in Certified Sites, adds 2 Additional Sites

POSTED ON: JUNE 18, 2024

Celebrate two new Certified Sites in Bondurant, Iowa! Bondurant is leading the state with four Certified Sites, which is the most of any community, since the program’s creation in 2012. As part of this initiative, the Timmins Industrial Park and Bondurant Industrial Park Plat 2 Certified Sites Dedication event will take place on Thursday, June 20th, 2024, at 8:30am. at Bondurant City Hall (200 2nd St. NE) in Bondurant, Iowa.

These two new Certified Sites will offer companies seeking project-ready industrial sites over 200 acres of available land. The Timmins Industrial Park consists of three parcels, which can be subdivided, totaling almost 190 acres. These parcels, designated light industrial, are easily accessible from both Interstate 80 and Highway 65 and offer optimal development, as they have consistently uniform topology.

The second site, the Bondurant Industrial Park Plat 2 offers developers something different, as it is zoned medium industrial, which is attractive for manufacturing and assembly companies. This site also maintains the same great access to Interstate 80 and Highway 65 making this site ideal.

The event will feature prominent speakers, including Debi Durham, Director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority, Mayor Doug Elrod, Don Timmins, owner of the Timmins Industrial Park, and Jamie Myers, owner of the Bondurant Industrial Park Plat 2. Their presence underscores the significant support and commitment to economic development initiatives in the state.

Mayor Elrod notes, “The City of Bondurant has been proactive in collaborating with property owners to participate in the Certified Site program. We have found this to be an excellent economic development tool and appreciate the assistance from the Iowa Economic Development Authority in navigating the program. We value our partners who have helped facilitate site certification, specifically our landowners, our engineers, our utility partner in MidAmerican Energy, and our planning and economic development partners such as the MPO and the Greater Des Moines Partnership. Using site certification as an economic development tool has supported our commercial and industrial valuation growth, increasing 829% in since the first Certified Site in 2017 and facilitating the creation of approximately 3,500 jobs.”
