SE Industrial Public Improvements Phase 1

Beginning Wednesday, June 3, 2026, 32nd Street SE / NE Jorie Way will be closed to through traffic between Pleasant Street SE and Eisenhower Drive SE as construction begins on the first phase of the SE Industrial Public Improvements project, to support the new Vermeer manufacturing facility. The roadway closure and detour are anticipated to remain in place through November 2026.

Motorists are encouraged to follow the posted detour route via Pleasant Street SE and SE 15th Street or use an alternate route. Access for local residents and properties within the closure limits will be maintained throughout construction.

Project: The Station

Grain Street Road Construction

Grain Street will be closed beginning on Feb. 5, 2026 and remain closed over the next few months as concrete work is completed, as part of The Station project.

Project: Grain District

Stage 1 (Completed):

Construction is expected to last through late 2025. Railroad Street will be closed to traffic during the construction period from Main Street SE through the intersection of Lincoln Street SE. Residents affected by the construction will have temporary access to their driveways during this time, with exception of a few brief stages of work. The contractor will provide notification to the affected residents when they will not have access.

Additional parking can be found to access the Chichaqua Valley Trail using existing downtown parking, parking on 1st St. SW, or parking by the the Bondurant Community Library and City Hall.

Phase 2 (Completed)

  • Timeline -Beginning May 2025. Updated: Anticipated conclusion November 2025.  **Please note that timelines will vary based on weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
  • 10/9/2025 UPDATE: Starting Oct. 15, 2025 the median at Hwy 65 & 2nd St. NE is temporarily closed, which means you won’t be able to cross Hwy 65 east/west or west/east at this intersection for now. The closure is expected to last several weeks (please note that the timeline may shift due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances). Daily intermittent lane closures will be occurring on both north and sound bound lanes.

  • Closure and Detour Locations - We will be updating this as we know more specifics.
    • The contractor working on the Civic Campus Roadway Improvements project, which includes the intersection of 2nd St. NE and Hwy 65/Hubbell Ave., is preparing to begin the final phase of the project. This phase involves reconstructing the roadway from Hwy 65/Hubbell Ave. to just east of the intersection of 2nd Street NE and Pleasant St. NE.

      To complete this work, the roadway is scheduled to close to traffic starting April 6, 2026. The closure is expected to remain in place through the end of May 2026.
