PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
March 3, 2025 – 6:00 p.m.
The City of Bondurant will be holding a Public Hearing to review an application for a State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan and to make available to the public the contents of an environmental information document and the City’s project plan. These documents include design and environmental information related to the proposed improvements to the City’s water supply system and treatment facilities
The proposed project involves three components of work to allow the City to reestablish its water supply and treatment facilities that it abandoned in 2001. The largest component of the project is the construction of a new water treatment plant located on an approximately 12.5-acre triangular parcel the City is acquiring for construction of the water treatment plant and wells. This component includes construction of the water treatment plant, ground storage reservoir, driveway and other ancillary facilities on approximately the south 4-acres of the project site. The second component of the project involves the construction of three wells (Wells No. 5, No. 6, and No. 7) and raw water transmission main. This includes the construction of the well, a shallow berm to raise the area of the well above the 100-year flood elevation, and a raw water transmission main. Ground disturbance for the construction of each well and proposed berm will be approximately 100 feet square. The raw water transmission main is anticipated to be approximately 500 feet long and involve the disturbance of an area approximately 20 feet wide centered on the pipe. The final component of the project is the construction of a finished water main and small diameter sanitary force main. The finished water main and small diameter sanitary force main will extend from the water plant southwesterly to connect to the existing utility systems in the City of Bondurant located at 16th Street NE just west of the U.S. Highway 65. It is anticipated the water main and force main will be located near the outer portion of the north westerly part of the right-of-way of the U.S. Highway 65. The location of the right-of-way is proposed to avoid the need for a private easement and to provide accessibility to both pipelines. The project will include all necessary connections and appurtenances.
The purpose of this Public Hearing is to inform area residents of the community of Bondurant of this proposed action, discuss the actual cost and user fees associated with this project, and to address citizen’s concerns, if any, with the plan.
