Who is eligible to participate in the Citywide Spring Cleanup? 

Residents living within city limits qualify for the program. However, apartments and some townhomes may not be included in the program, so contact property management or homeowner's association to see if they pay for the services. To view current city limits, view the existing corporate limits map

Why were items left at my curb?

The City of Bondurant reserves the right to refuse an item if it is not within the program's intent or is considered unreasonable. Any items left at your curb after the completion of the clean-up are deemed unacceptable.

The cleanup accepts the following items at the curb:

"Solid Waste" defined by Waste Management Authority is residential household items not picked up on Wednesdays (regular collection day). Items must be placed curbside the night before for curbside pickup.

Accepted materials

  • Carpets/carpet pads
    • Roll up carpets and carpet pads and tie them securely with twine.
    • Rolls must be less than five feet long and less than one (1) foot in diameter – larger rolls will not be accepted.
  • General junk and household building materials (lumber, windows, doors)
    • Pile size is limited to what fits in one (1) level standard-size pickup truck. A standard-size pickup truck is 8 feet in length, 4 feet in width, and 2 feet in height.
    • Lumber must be stacked and no longer than five feet.
    • Remove or bend nails.
    • Boxed or bundled with twine - under 100 pounds per item.
  • Unusable furniture
    • Chairs, couches, sofas, etc.
    • Mattresses or box springs Mattresses and box springs are accepted.
    • Disassemble or tie down hide-a-way sofa beds so they cannot open when handled.

Not acceptable materials

  • No household trash, such as food waste.
  • No plastic bags.
  • No railroad ties.
  • No chemically treated lumber or wood (i.e., treated to waterproof material)
  • No construction materials from businesses or contractors.
  • No paint, solvents, chemicals, or other hazardous waste.
  • No appliances.
    • Water heaters, microwaves, washers, dryers, stoves, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, freezers, dishwashers, trash compactors, garbage disposals, water coolers, and refrigerators.
  • No TVs, computers, printers, stereos, cell phones, etc.
  • Cumbersome and bulky items
    • No heavy or bulky items such as pianos or organs.
  • No Hazardous waste
    • No paints, motor oil, or solvents.
    • No fluorescent tubes and bulbs.
    • No propane tanks.
    • No household chemicals.
  • No Plumbing fixtures
    • No tubs, sinks, toilets, or hot tubs.
  • No Recyclable materials
    • No newspapers, mixed paper, boxboard, corrugated cardboard, cans, glass, or plastic containers.
  • No Small scrap metal
    • "Small" is defined as a piece of scrap metal that you can fit in the trunk of a car.
  • No tires 
  • No batteries.
  • No Yard waste, organic materials
    • No leaves, grass clippings, sod, stumps, logs, etc.
    • No food waste.

What items are accepted at the drop-off location?

Yard Waste

Metro Waste Authority defines "yard waste" as grass clippings, leaves, brush, or garden waste. Not tree branches, tree limbs, or tree trunks.

Residents may bring yard waste in bags, but empty them into the dumpster and take the bags with you.

Tires

Residents may bring a maximum of five (5) scrap automobile tires, with rims removed. Not acceptable for disposal: scrap tires generated by any business or farm. No tractor tires, lawnmower tires, forklift tires, golf cart tires, or bicycle tires.

Drop-off Procedures:

Drop-off is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Public Works Facility at 306 1st St NW. View the map below for directions.

Please read and follow the guidelines outlined below.

  1. Residents will only be allowed to enter the facility from the East off Blaine St. NW. (Please see traffic flow map)
  2. Residents will be asked to stop and wait at the East Entrance Gate as we will only allow two (2) vehicles at a time into the facility.
  3. Due to social distancing requirements, Public Works staff will not assist residents in unloading unless requested at the gate.
  4. Exiting the facility will be out the West gate through the soccer complex. (See Map)
