Homebrewing Competition

Homebrewing Competition

The homebrew winners will be announced during the Bondu Blues & Brews Festival on July 16. The taste testing and judging will take place the week of July 3, prior to the festival, which will allow the judges the time and attention they need to document their feedback and make the most sound judgment.

Reclaimed Rails Brewing Company Head Brewer, Bondurant Mayor (Pro Brewer), and a Bondurant local (Beer Judge Certified Program (BJCP) judge) will taste-test the brew entries. The brews will be judged based on aroma, appearance, flavor, mouthfeel, and overall impression!  This is not a BJCP-sanctioned competition, but they do their best to follow the BJCP guidelines.

Winner and Runner-up trophies will be awarded during the Bondu Blues & Brews Festival hosted at the Bondurant Regional Trailhead  Saturday, July 16, starting at 6:30 PM.

RULES:

  • If you submit a brew, you will want to attend the Bondu Blues and Brews Festival to collect feedback.  A Beer Scoresheet used by AHA/BJCP Sanctioned Competition Program will be returned for each entry.
  • Free to enter, however, you MUST REGISTER TO SUBMIT AN ENTRY. If you do not register, the entry will not be eligible for the competition.
  • The brew samples will need to be bottled in two or three 12 oz containers for the judges to taste test (containers will not be returned to entrants). Bottle or aluminum can – doesn’t make a difference in taste as some may portray. The judges will be pouring the brew into their own glasses. I’ve been told that the presentation and brew name sometimes make a difference!
  • All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment
