Bondurant, Iowa earned Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

2021 Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

The City of Bondurant is pleased to announce it is the recipient of a 2021 Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

Per the GFOA website found at gfoa.org, “GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program (Budget Awards Program) in 1984 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA's best practices on budgeting and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal. Over 1600 governments, including states, cities, counties, special districts, school districts, and more have been recognized for transparency in budgeting. To earn recognition, budget documents must meet program criteria and excel as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communication tool.”

Bondurant joins other Iowa communities, including Ames, Bettendorf, Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Indianola, Iowa City, Muscatine, and West Des Moines in earning the award.

Mayor Curt Sullivan said, “We are excited about this honor as it represents Bondurant City leadership’s continual efforts to enhance financial controls and transparency. We are the smallest city in Iowa to achieve this designation and plan to continue to pursue excellence and GFOA best practices in financial policies, reporting, and community engagement. I appreciate the City Council’s leadership and staff’s hard work in this area.”
