Join the Bondurant Parks & Recreation Department for the annual Youth Fishing Derby at Lake Petocka on Saturday, June 3rd from 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM!

For ages 3 - 15 years old although Iowa residents can try fishing without buying a license on June 2, 3, and 4 as part of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) free fishing weekend. All other regulations remain in place.

Bring your own fishing gear, bait, and tackle. A few buckets will be on-site to hold the fish that are caught. Raffle drawing and donuts after the kiddos catch a few fish!

“Grab your tackle box, take the family, and get your lines in the water this weekend,” said Joe Larscheid, Iowa DNR’s Fisheries Bureau chief. “Enjoy your time together, make lasting memories, and put your worries behind you.”

The free fishing weekend is a great time to take kids fishing. Outdoor fun awaits.

Anglers under the age of 16 may fish Iowa waters without a fishing license and may fish for and keep their own limit of fish, except when fishing for trout, they must share their limit with a licensed adult or buy their own trout fee to keep their own limit of trout.
