A portion of 2nd St NW that crosses Mud Creek closed Tuesday, July 23, 2019, to all through traffic for a project that is adding a new box culvert. The project is designed to help prevent future flooding for adjacent properties. The completion date was anticipated to be by August 21, 2019. Due to unforeseen circumstances related to some utility work conflict, the completion date has been delayed to the week of August 26th. The actual day is not yet known and will be shared as soon as that information becomes available.

Contractors are scheduled to set the additional box culvert beginning Tuesday, after which there will be backfill work and road preparation. City staff will know more about the specific day for the road to reopen once the concrete work begins, which is scheduled for the end of next week. The contractor is moving as quickly as possible and working extended hours to try to expedite the timeline. The City also approved a change order to the contract to upgrade to a concrete mixture that cures more quickly, in an effort to re-open the road as soon as possible. The City has been in communication with the School District about the status of this project. The City’s emergency services contingency plans also remain in place throughout the duration of the project.

Please reference the enclosed map for detour route and specific location of the road closure. The sidewalk remains closed throughout the project, however, the trail accessible through Efnor Estates Park remains open. The City appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding while improvements to the city’s infrastructure are being made.
