Iowa has made great strides in health and wellness since Governor Branstad announced the goal of becoming the healthiest state in the nation by 2016. In fact, since his announcement in the fall of 2011, Iowa has already jumped from 19th to 16th healthiest state in the nation on the Gallop-Healthways Well-being Index. We are moving in the right direction, but we have a long way to go.
Recent statistics show Iowa's obesity rate at 29 percent and projected to rise to 54.4 percent by 2030. These statistics not only have implications for those carrying the weight, but for businesses and communities as well. Addressing these health issues through wellness programs is a positive step toward changing current trends and enhancing the well-being of your employees and your business.
Live Healthy Iowa challenges work well for businesses, communities or schools looking to start a wellness program or to simply enrich an existing program. The challenges are turn-key, requiring little additional time for setup or administration. Custom options are available to fit the needs of your community. Large or small, Live Healthy Iowa can work for you!
The City of Bondurant will be accepting the Live Healthy Iowa 10 Week Wellness Challenge for the Community Cup trophy.
