On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared coronavirus (COVID-19) a global pandemic. Leading up to that date and every day since, park and recreation professionals have pivoted, adapted, and shown the world just how essential they are.

NRPA has released COVID-19 and Parks and Recreation: Response and Recovery. This report details the important role parks and recreation has played throughout the pandemic and will continue to play into the future.

Bondurant Parks and Recreation saw a 53 percent increase in park and/or trail usage during the pandemic, illustrating the vital role these public spaces play in our community’s health and well-being.
