Keith is serving in his first term as Mayor of Bondurant and is an active member of the Mid-Iowa Association of Local Governments. Before being elected as Mayor, he served on the Bondurant City Council for four years. Currently, he is the city's representative on the Metro Waste Authority Board of Directors. Keith is also an active member of the Bondurant Emergency Services department as a Firefighter / EMT and the co-leader of a small discipleship group at the church his family attends.
Keith and his family have lived in Bondurant for the past 6 years. He and his wife, Nichole, have been married for over 10 years, and they have three daughters and one son. He is a graduate of William Penn University in Oskaloosa, IA. Keith works as an IT professional for American Republic Insurance in Des Moines.
My top three goals that I would like to accomplish as Mayor.
- My first goal is to increase communication between City Hall and the residents. Too often, misunderstandings arise in a community simply due to a lack of information being given to the residents. I’m working very hard at finding new ways to distribute information in a timely manner.
- We are currently still using sewer lagoons in the City, but we plan to transition to the WRA in 2013. However, there are still large amounts of clear water entering the system that need to be addressed prior to our connection. We are looking at putting a new storm sewer into an entire development and disconnecting their sump pumps and foundation drains from the sanitary sewer and then connecting them to the new storm sewer. This is going to be an expensive project and will require extensive amounts of communication with the residents.
- I feel very strongly about attracting new business to the city. I think that the population of Bondurant has reached a point where we could now support a small grocery store and more family style restaurants. I plan to actively work with organizations like the Bondurant Development Inc. (BDI) and the Chamber of Commerce to find businesses that are looking to open new locations in a thriving city.
