Summary of Input
The City of Bondurant began an update to its Comprehensive Plan in the spring of 2011. The
Comprehensive Plan is a master plan for the entire City of Bondurant that defines a vision, a set of guiding principles and a framework for how the community develops over the next 20 years. The planning process provides an opportunity to reflect on how our community has grown over the last several years and explore emerging trends in city planning and community development such as active and healthy living, complete streets, sustainability and resiliency at a community level. The plan will address topics such as land use, transportation systems (roadways, bikeways, trails), parks and recreation, economic development, housing strategies, and infrastructure systems.
Over the course of summer and fall 2011, the City conducted a survey and engaged the community in a game board exercise to identify issues, opportunities and ideas for how our community will grow. We worked with those ideas and explored concepts for how the community will guide growth and change over the next 20 years. On December 6th, we presented these ideas to the community in an open house at City Hall. Over 30 people in attendance reviewed the plans and were able to provide comments. If you were not able to attend the open house, the boards from the presentation are available below. Please review the boards and concepts and provide any comments by January 1.
The City will develop a draft of the updated comprehensive plan this winter. Check back on the website in February to review a first draft of the comprehensive plan document.

Over the summer of 2011, residents were invited to participate in a community survey to help us understand what the Bondurant community values when it comes to those features that make a community: land use, streets and roads, park and open space systems, growth and development, government services, etc.
Over 280 participants filled out the survey. Click on the survey to see a summary of the survey results. The survey is closed so that we may begin preparation of the community plan.
A gameboard exercise was also prepared to solicit ideas and thoughts about the future of Bondurant. Click on the gameboard to view a summary of results.
Using this information, we will be drafting a Vision Statement and set of Guiding Principles. Together, the Vision and Guiding Principles will be used to shape the Comprehensive Plan document and moving forward, it will be used to gauge the merits of future growth and development actions made by others in the community.
Check back towards the end of November to view a draft of the Vision and Guiding Principles document.
From time to time we will be posting information on this website as various elements of the comprehensive plan are completed in draft form. We will be announcing availability of materials through the City’s Facebook and Twitter accounts and we will be announcing progress through other various City communication channels.
Please check back frequently for further information. This website will be updated on a monthly or more frequent basis.
The project will take approximately 8 to 12 months to complete.
