NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Special Meeting of the City Council will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2005, in the Bondurant City Center at 200 Second Street, Northeast, Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa.  Said meeting is open and the public is encouraged to attend.

SPECIAL MEETING

Meeting No. 05-11

 

 

A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa, was held in the Community Room at the Bondurant City Center on the 28th day of May, 2005, at 9:00 a.m.

 

 

Present:                Mayor Allen G. Ihde

                              Council Member Bruce N. Cordes

                              Council Member Jeffrey A. Kromrie

                              Council Member Gregory S. Schiermeister

                              Council Member James M. Valentine

                              City Administrator Darrel Steven Carlyle

 

Absent:                 Council Member Michele R. Bailey

                              Administrative / Utility Clerk Michelle Wells

                              Accounting Clerk Luane Baker

 

Notice of the meeting was posted at the Bondurant City Center, Ampride Store, Casey’s General Store, and Legacy Bank on May 27, 2005.  All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the public.

 

Mayor Ihde called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.  Roll  call  was  taken and a quorum was declared. 

 

Mayor Ihde asked that the agenda be modified to reflect 3a)  Mr. Kromrie to speak to the City Council.  Motion made by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Council Member Schiermeister, to approve the agenda, as amended.  Roll Call:  Cordes-Yes, Schiermeister-Yes, Valentine-Yes.  Motion carried.

 

Mr. Kromrie, from the audience, spoke to the Bondurant City Council by asking them to allow him to rescind his City Council seat resignation, dated May 16, 2005, and offered an apology for his behaviors at the Bondurant City Council meeting of May 16, 2005.  Mayor Ihde thanked him for his comments and asked him to join the balance of the City Council Members at the City Council table.

 

Motion made by Council Member Schiermeister, seconded by Council Member Cordes, to close the regular City Council Meeting and open Public Hearing to consider amending the City of Bondurant Fiscal Year 2004 / 2005 Municipal Budget.  Roll Call:  Schiermeister-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Kromrie-Yes, Valentine-Yes.  Motion carried.  City Administrator Carlyle reported his office received no written or verbal comments.  No verbal comments were received during the Public Hearing.  Mayor Ihde acknowledged receipt of a written communication from City Council Member Bailey, expressing her support of Resolution No. 05-46.  Motion made by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Council Member Valentine, to close Public Hearing and open the regular City Council Meeting.  Roll Call:  Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Schiermeister-Yes, Kromrie-Yes.  Motion carried.

Motion made by Council Member Schiermeister, seconded by Council Member Valentine, to approve Resolution No. 05-46, a Resolution amending the current budget for the Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2005.  Roll Call:  Schiermeister-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Kromrie-Yes.  Motion carried.

 

Inasmuch as the City did not received a Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino grant, Council Member Cordes asked that City Administrator Carlyle look into providing an alternative “chipping service” for the residents since the City no longer allows burning.

 

Motion made by Council Member Valentine, seconded by Council Member Cordes, to adjourn said meeting at 9:25 a.m.  Ayes:  4.  Nays:  0.  Motion carried.
