A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa, was held in the Community Room at the Bondurant
City Center on the 04th day of April, 2005, at 6:00 p.m.

Notice of the meeting was posted at the Bondurant City Center, Ampride Store, Casey’s General Store, and Legacy Bank on April 01, 2005. All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the public.
Mayor Ihde called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Roll call was taken and a quorum was declared.
Mayor Ihde asked that item 15 be deleted from the
agenda. Motion made by Council Member
Cordes, seconded by Council Member Valentine, to approve the agenda, as
amended. Roll Call: Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Schiermeister-Yes,
Kromrie-No, Bailey-Yes. Motion carried.
Motion made by Council Member Bailey, seconded by Council
Member Schiermeister, to approve the consent items consisting of the City
Council Minutes of March 21, 2005, Polk County Emergency Management Minutes of
March 23, 2005, and the Claims Report.
Roll Call: Bailey-Yes,
Schiermeister-Yes, Kromrie-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes. Motion carried.
Polk County Sheriff’s Department Representative Lt. Jorgenson was present and had nothing to report.
Polk County Supervisor Tom Hockensmith presented an update of Polk County Government. The update included the Budget; Rural Library Service Budget; Comprehensive Land Use Plan; Corridor Study; Balanced Growth; Southeast Polk Rural Water District; Iowa Events Center; Jail Referendum; Pseudoephedrine Restriction and the City / County Merger.
Motion made by Council Member Bailey, seconded by Council Member Cordes, to close the regular City Council meeting and open Public Hearing to consider a request to re-zone a certain parcel of real estate from A-1 to R-2. Roll Call: Bailey-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Schiermeister-Yes, Kromrie-Yes, Valentine-Yes. Motion carried. Mr. Eric Gjersvik, P.E., MSA Professional Services, 5075 East University Avenue, Suite E, Pleasant Hill, Iowa, presented a request for Re-Zoning of approximately 35.061 acres (+/-), located along 15th Street, Southeast and east of Northeast 80th Street, Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa, from A-1 (Agricultural District) to R-2 (One- and Two-Family Residential District).

City Administrator Carlyle stated that the request for Re-Zoning has been approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission and reported his office received no written or verbal comments. No verbal comments were received during the public hearing. Motion made by Council Member Schiermeister, seconded by Council Member Bailey, to close Public Hearing and open the regular City Council meeting. Roll Call: Schiermeister-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Kromrie-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes. Motion carried.
Motion made by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Council Member Schiermeister, to waive the first and second reading of Ordinance No. 05-204, an Ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Bondurant, Iowa, 2002, by amending the zoning classification of certain real estate from an “A-1” Agricultural District to an “R-2” One- and Two-Family Residential District. Roll Call: Cordes-Yes, Schiermeister-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Kromrie-Yes, Valentine-Yes. Motion carried.
Mr. Eric Gjersvik, P.E., MSA Professional Services, 5075 East University Avenue, Suite E, Pleasant Hill, Iowa, presented an Amended Final Plat for Hazel Marie Townhomes Plat 1. City Administrator Carlyle stated that the Final Plat has met the administrative review process.
Motion made by Council Member Kromrie, seconded by Council Member Bailey, to approve Resolution No. 05-24, a Resolution approving the Amended Final Plat for Hazel Marie Townhomes Plat 1. Roll Call: Kromrie-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Schiermeister-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes. Motion carried.
