Meeting No. 04-02

A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa, was held in the Community Room at the Bondurant City Center on the 19th day of January, 2004, at 5:30 p.m.

Notice of the meeting was posted at the Bondurant City Center, Ampride Store, Casey’s General Store, and Legacy Bank on January 16, 2004. All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the public.

Mayor Ihde called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Roll call was taken and a quorum was declared.

Motion made by Council Member Valentine, seconded by Council Member Kromrie, to approve the agenda as presented. Roll Call: Valentine-Yes, Kromrie-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Schiermeister-Yes. Motion carried.

Motion made by Council Member Bailey, seconded by Council Member Cordes, to approve the consent items consisting of the City Council Minutes of January 05, 2004, Library Board of Trustees Minutes of October 02, 2003, Des Moines Area MPO Minutes of December 18, 2003, Bondurant Community Library Board Minutes of December 04, 2003, Polk County Aviation Authority Minutes of December 04, 2003, the Claims Report and Financial Reports, and Tax Abatement Applications for Robert E. Lorentzen, 117 – 5th Street, Northeast; Fred and Merris McIntosh, 101 – 5th Street, Northeast; and Tracy J. and Rebecca S. Welty, 311 – 3rd Street, Northwest, Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa. Roll Call: Bailey-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Schiermeister-Yes, Kromrie-Yes, Valentine-Yes. Motion carried.

Polk County Sheriff’s Department Representative Deputy Jeff Holliday was present but had nothing to report.

City Administrator Carlyle explained that 5 parcels of land; that were Polk County islands with the City of Bondurant, have been annexed into the City. When changing the boundaries, an Ordinance is required to show the parcels of land within the Corporate City limits, into the Municipal Code.

Motion made by Council Member Kromrie, seconded by Council Member Bailey, to waive the first and second reading of Ordinance No. 04-200, an Ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Bondurant, Iowa, 2002, by amending provisions pertaining to the Corporate Limits, and approve as the third and final reading. Roll Call: Kromrie-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Schiermeister-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes. Motion carried.

Motion made by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Council Member Valentine, to approve the first reading of Ordinance No. 04-201, an Ordinance amending the Code of Ordinances of the City of Bondurant, Iowa, 2002, by amending provisions pertaining to Special Speed Restrictions. Roll Call: Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Schiermeister-Yes, Kromrie-Yes. Motion carried.
