Meeting No. 02-21
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa, was held in the Community Room at the Bondurant
City Center on the 07th day of October, 2002, at 6:00 p.m.

Notice of the meeting was posted at the Bondurant City Center, Ampride Store, Casey’s General Store, and Legacy Bank on October 03rd, 2002. All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the public.
Mayor Ihde called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Roll call was taken and a quorum was
declared.
Motion made by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Council
Member Williams, to approve the agenda as presented. Roll Call: Cordes-Yes,
Williams-Yes, Thomas-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Bailey-Yes. Motion carried.
Motion made by Council Member Thomas, seconded by Council
Member Valentine, to approve the consent items consisting of the City Council
Minutes of September 16, 2002, Board of Adjustment Minutes of September 24,
2002, Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes of September 26, 2002, Metro Waste
Authority Minutes of August 21, 2002, Des Moines Area MPO Minutes of August 15,
2002, the Claims Report and Tax Abatement Application for Mark and Jody Knebel,
502 Deer Ridge Drive, Northwest, Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa. Roll Call:
Thomas-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Williams-Yes, Cordes-Yes. Motion carried.
Polk County Sheriff’s Department Representative Lt.
Jorgensen expressed his appreciation to Council Members Thomas and Valentine
for attending the Polk County Sheriff’s Citizen’s Academy; informed Council
that a copy of the new City Code is in both patrol cars and said a Deputy will
be in the City on Wednesday, October 30th, for Beggar's Night.
Motion made by Council Member Bailey, seconded by Council
Member Williams, to waive the second reading of Ordinance No. 02-206, an
Ordinance amending the Official Zoning Map of the City of Bondurant, Polk
County, Iowa and approve as the third and final reading. Roll Call:

Explained the replacement pages for the City Code Book,
due to the passage of recent Ordinances.

Council Member Williams – Stated he will be out of town
for the October Metro Waste Authority meeting and asked his alternate, City
Administrator Carlyle to attend the meeting.

Council Member Bailey – Asked if the City had authority
in enforcing “No Parking” in the fire lane at the school.

Council Member Thomas – Stated how much he enjoyed
attending the Polk County Sheriff’s Citizen’s Academy.
¨
Council Member Cordes – Thanked City Staff for
barricade repairs and helping the Bondurant Men’s Club on Saturday.
¨
Council Member Valentine – Informed City Administrator
that the grate is missing from the storm sewer intake at the corner of Main
Street, Southeast and Third Street, Southeast and attending the Polk County
Sheriff’s Citizen’s Academy was well worth the time.
