Meeting No. 02-15

 

 

A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa, was held in the Community Room at the Bondurant City Center on the 01st day of July, 2002, at 6:00 p.m.

 

Present: Mayor Allen G. Ihde

                        Council Member Michele R. Bailey

                        Council Member Bruce N. Cordes

                        Council Member David O. Williams

                        Council Member Terry F. Thomas

                                Council Member James M. Valentine

                        City Administrator Darrel Steven Carlyle

                        Deputy City Clerk Sandra Rhodes

                        Administrative / Utility Clerk Michelle Wells

 

Absent: None

 

Notice of the meeting was posted at the Bondurant City Center, Ampride Store, Casey’s General Store, and Legacy Bank on June 28, 2002.  All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the public.

 

Mayor Ihde called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  Roll call was taken and a quorum was declared.

 

Motion made by Council Member Williams, seconded by Council Member Bailey, to approve the agenda as presented.  Roll Call:  Ayes:  5.  Nays:  0.  Motion carried.

 

Motion made by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Council Member Valentine, to approve the consent items consisting of the City Council Minutes of June 19, 2002 and June 27, 2002, Park and Recreation Board Minutes of April 25, 2002, Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes of May 23, 2002, and June 13, 2002, Board of Adjustment Minutes of June 25, 2002, and the Claims Report.  Roll Call:  Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Williams-Yes, Thomas-Yes.  Motion carried.

 

Polk County Sheriff’s Department Representative Lt. Jorgenson had nothing to report.

 

Mr. Chuck Bishop, P.E. of Bishop Engineering gave an overview of the Preliminary Plat for Meadow Brook North – Plat No. 16.

 

Motion made by Council Member Bailey, seconded by Council Member Williams, to approve Resolution No. 02-72, a Resolution approving the Preliminary Plat for Meadow Brook North – Plat No. 16.  Roll Call:  Bailey-Yes, Williams-Yes, Thomas-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes.  Motion carried.

v     Referenced communication from Bondurant Library Director Karen Burkett - Sandoval.

v     Referenced Communication from the Greater Des Moines Partnership.

v     Stated how much he enjoyed attending the Bondurant Federated Church’s Patriotic Service.

v     Informed Council he would be out of town July 05 through July 12, 2002.

ü      Referenced communication from the Iowa League of Cities.

ü      Informed Council that work will begin soon televising Drainage District 30.

 

The following item(s) were discussed as part of Council Member’s comments:

 

¨      Council Member Williams – No Comment.

¨      Council Member Bailey – Inquired about dog leash code.

¨      Council Member Thomas – No Comment.

¨      Council Member Cordes – Inquired about meeting with Heartland Engineer.

¨      Council Member Valentine – Received complaints regarding the lawn maintenance at the Fire Station.

 

Motion made by Council Member Bailey, seconded by Council Member Williams, to adjourn said meeting at 6:15 p.m.  Ayes:  5.  Nays:  0.  Motion carried.
