Meeting No. 01-21

 

 

A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa, was held in the Community Room at the Bondurant City Center on the 01st day of October, 2001, at 7:00 p.m.

 

Present:                Mayor Allen G. Ihde

                              Council Member Bruce N. Cordes

                              Council Member Terry F. Thomas

                              Council Member James M. Valentine

                              Council Member David O. Williams

                              City Administrator Darrel Steven Carlyle

                              Deputy City Clerk Karen S. Meek

 

Absent:                 Council Member Michele R. Bailey

                              Administrative / Utility Clerk Michelle Wells

 

Notice of the meeting was posted at the Bondurant City Center, Ampride Store, Casey’s General Store,

Farmers Savings Bank on September 28, 2001.  All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the public.

 

Mayor Ihde called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.  Roll call was taken and a quorum was declared. 

 

Motion made by Council Member Williams, seconded by Council Member Cordes, to approve the agenda as presented.  Roll call:   Ayes:  4.   Nays:  0.   Motion carried.

 

Motion made by Council Member Thomas, seconded by Council Member Valentine, to approve the consent items consisting of the City Council Minutes of September 17, 2001, Bondurant Library Board Minutes of August 02, 2001, Des Moines Area MPO Minutes of August 16, 2001, the Claims Report, and Tax Abatement Applications for Brad Hartman, 203 Deer Ridge Drive, Northwest, and T. J. and Katie Werner, 301 Deer Ridge Drive, Northwest, Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa.  Roll Call:  Thomas-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Williams-Yes.  Motion carried.

 

Polk County Sheriff’s Department Representative Lt. Jorgenson informed the City Council that the Department has secured a speed indicator device from the Iowa Department of Transportation.

 

Polk County Emergency Management Agency Representative A. J. Mumm gave an overview of the City of Bondurant Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.  The presentation included:  forming the committee members, identifying hazards, scoring hazards, ranking hazards, existing programs, defining strategies, funding source, local input, and living document.

 

Mayor Ihde expressed appreciation to the members of the Mitigation Plan Committee for the excellent document and distributed Certificates of Appreciation to committee members.

 

Motion made by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Council Member Thomas, to approve Resolution No. 01-104, a Resolution adopting the City of Bondurant Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan and

providing for certain conditions relating to same.  Roll Call:  Cordes-Yes, Thomas-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Williams-Yes.  Motion carried.

 

Motion made by Council Member Williams, seconded by Council Member Cordes, to approve Resolution No. 01-105, a Resolution approving the 2000 / 2001 City of Bondurant Road Use Tax Report.  Roll Call:  Williams-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Thomas-Yes.  Motion carried.

 

Motion by Council Member Valentine, seconded by Council Member Thomas, to approve Resolution No. 01-106, a Resolution approving support for the efforts of the Metropolitan Advisory Council relating to Public Transportation.  Roll Call:  Valentine-Yes, Thomas-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Williams-Yes.  Motion carried.

 

Motion by Council Member Thomas, seconded by Council Member Cordes, to approve Resolution No. 01-107, a Resolution approving the various appointments to the Central Iowa Regional Drinking Water Commission.  Roll Call:  Thomas-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Williams-Yes.  Motion carried.

 

Council Member Bailey arrived at 7:25 P.M.

ü      Encouraged residents with complaints, concerns, or comments regarding services or projects to contact the City Center.
