Meeting No. 01-19
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa, was held in the Community Room at the Bondurant
City Center on the 04th day of September, 2001, at 6:00 p.m.

Notice of the meeting was posted at the Bondurant City Center, Ampride Store, Casey’s General Store, and Farmers Savings Bank on August 31, 2001. All proceedings here after shown were taken while the convened special meeting was open to the public.
Mayor Ihde called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Roll call was taken and a quorum was
declared.
Motion made by Council Member Bailey, seconded by Council Member Thomas, to approve the agenda as amended. Roll call: Ayes: 4 Nays: 0. Motion carried.
Mr. Eric Boatwright, 202 – Second Street, Southeast, addressed the Council regarding the finished grade, condition of the soil, and grass seeding after the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and Railroad, Streets, Southeast Reconstruction Project. Administrator Carlyle stated that during a walk through inspection, a punch list was made and the problems would be addressed before final closure.
Motion made by Council Member Williams, seconded by Council Member Valentine, to approve the consent items consisting of the City Council Minutes of August 20, 2001, Polk County Emergency Management Minutes of May 31, 2001, Park and Recreation Board Minutes of August 02, 2001, Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes of July 26, 2001, Des Moines Area MPO Minutes of June 21, 2001, the Claims Report and Tax Abatement Applications for David and Carla Nissen, 403 Deer Ridge Drive, Northwest, Janna and Jacklyn Miller, 807 Filmore Avenue, Southeast, Chad Becwar, 808 Cleveland Avenue, Southeast, David Kimmel, 101 – 7th Court, Southeast, Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa. Roll Call: Williams-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Thomas-Yes. Motion carried.
Polk County Sheriff’s Department Representative was not present.
Stanley Consultants, Inc. Representative Edwin R. Slattery, P.E. gave an overview to Council regarding the Contract 2000-1 Water Main Improvements Project - Connection to Des Moines Waterworks Main and the Sanitary Sewer Improvements Around Anderson Elementary School Project.

Motion made by Council Member Bailey, seconded by Council Member Valentine, to approve Resolution No. 01-92, a Resolution approving Change Order No. 05, relating to the Contract 2000-1 Water Main Improvements – Connection to Des Moines Waterworks Main Project. Roll Call: Bailey-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Williams-Yes, Thomas-Yes. Motion carried.

Bondurant Development, Inc. President Craig S. Cochran gave an overview to Council regarding current activities and a request for funding. Mr. Cochran referenced a tree-planting project, Bondurant’s Entryways, the importance of annexation, and economic development.
Motion by Council Member Valentine, seconded by Council Member Williams, to approve Resolution No. 01-91, a Resolution approving a request for funding for Bondurant Development, Inc., in the amount of $4,500.00. Roll Call: Valentine-Yes, Williams-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Thomas-Yes. Motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Valentine, seconded by Council Member Thomas, to approve Resolution No. 01-95, a Resolution approving the Agreement for Water Meter Installation between the City of Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa and Maintenance Consultants. Roll Call: Valentine-Yes, Thomas-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Williams-Yes. Motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Williams, seconded by Council Member Bailey, to approve Resolution No. 01-96, a Resolution approving the appointment of Susan J. Ugulini to the Polk County Aviation Board.
