Meeting No. 01-17
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa, was held in the Community Room at the Bondurant
City Center on the 06th day of August, 2001, at 7:00 p.m.

Notice of the meeting was posted at the Bondurant City Center, Ampride Store, Casey’s General Store, and Farmers Savings Bank on August 02, 2001. All proceedings here after shown were taken while the convened special meeting was open to the public.
Mayor Ihde called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Roll call was taken and a quorum was
declared.
Motion made by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Council Member Valentine, to approve the agenda as amended. Roll Call: Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Thomas-Yes. Motion carried.
Mr. David Nesheim, 507 – 10th Court, Southeast, addressed the Council regarding the drainage problems on 10th Court, Southeast. City Administrator Carlyle had discussed the situation with the City Engineer; presented to the Council possible solutions to the drainage problem; with action to be taken at the next Council Meeting.
Motion made by Council Member Bailey, seconded by Council Member Thomas, to approve the consent items consisting of the City Council Minutes of July 16, 2001, Metro Waste Authority Board Minutes of June 20, 2001, Park and Recreation Board Minutes of June 21, 2001, CIRDWC Minutes of June 26, 2001, Des Moines Area MPO Minutes of June 21, 2001, Claims Report and the Tax Abatement Application for Adam and Heather Snelson, 402 Deer Ridge Drive, Northwest, Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa. Roll Call: Bailey-Yes, Thomas-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes. Motion carried.
Polk County Sheriff’s Department Representative Lt. Jorgenson gave an overview to Council of the monthly activity.
Eastern Polk Regional Development Executive Director Don Coates gave an update to the Council regarding EPRD Activities, which included a low or no interest revolving loan plan, helping communities write grant applications and information about the Web Site.

Park and Recreation Board Member Mr. Boyce Bailey and Keep Bondurant Beautiful Representative Barbara A. Birchmier updated the Council regarding the recent improvements and plantings at the City Park. The possibility of connecting a water faucet at the City Park was discussed.
Iowa Network Services, Inc. Representative Blair Beck gave an overview of the Revised Site Plan for the Iowa Network Services, Inc. to the Council. The revisions included addition of second dish, pushing driveway to the west, and relocation of tower.
Motion made by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Council Member Valentine, to approve Resolution No. 01-84, a Resolution approving the Revised Site Plan for Iowa Network Services, Inc. 6230 Northeast 62nd Avenue, Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa. Roll Call: Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Thomas-Yes. Motion carried.
Mulberry Pointe Apartment Representative Nathan Miller gave an overview of the Revised Site Plan for the Mulberry Pointe Apartments Development. The presentation included: removing one garage to open space, adding two garages in another space, and minor drainage definition changes adjacent to Lot 14, 15, and 16.
Motion by Council Member Valentine, seconded by Council Member Bailey, to approve Resolution No. 01-85, a Resolution approving the Revised Site Plan for Mulberry Pointe Apartments, 906 Washington Avenue, Southeast, Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa. Roll Call: Valentine-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Thomas-Yes, Cordes-Yes. Motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Council Member Valentine, to approve Resolution No. 01-86, a Resolution approving Change Order No. 04, relating to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and Railroad Streets, Southeast Reconstruction Project. Roll Call: Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Thomas-No. Motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Bailey, seconded by Council Member Thomas, to approve Resolution No. 01-87, a Resolution approving a Proclamation declaring “Responsible Gaming Education Week.” Roll Call: Bailey-Yes, Thomas-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes. Motion carried.
Motion by Council Member Valentine, seconded by Council Member Cordes, to approve Resolution No. 01-88, a Resolution approving Progressive Payment Request No. 03, in the amount of $125,030.88, payable to Sternquest Construction, Inc. for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and Railroad Streets, Southeast Reconstruction Project. Roll Call: Valentine-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Thomas-Yes. Motion carried.
