Meeting No. 01-07
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa, was held in the Community Room at the Bondurant
City Center on the 2nd day of April, 2001, at 7:00 p.m.

Notice of the meeting was posted at the Bondurant City Center, Ampride Store, Casey’s General Store, and Farmers Savings Bank on March 30, 2001. All proceedings here after shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the public.

Pro-tem Bailey called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Roll call was taken and a quorum was
declared.
Motion made by Council Member Williams, seconded by Council Member Cordes, to approve the agenda as amended. Roll Call: Williams-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Thomas-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Valentine-Yes. Motion carried.
Motion made by Council Member Valentine, seconded by Council Member Cordes, to approve the consent items consisting of the City Council Minutes of March 19, 2001, Polk County Emergency Management Commission Minutes of February 01, 2001, Council Roundtable Minutes of March 14, 2001, Polk County Aviation Authority Minutes of March 08, 2001, Metro Waste Authority Minutes of February 21, 2001 and the Claims Report. Roll Call: Valentine-Yes, Cordes-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Williams-Yes, Thomas-Yes. Motion carried.
Bondurant resident Mr. Walter Frankford, 921 Grant Court, Southeast, addressed the Council on safety concerns on Grant Court, Southeast.
Polk County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Jorgenson updated the Council on a current traffic study, two residential fires, and recent vandalism. Deputy Tim Schuster informed the Council that he is addressing cars parked on the grass in residential areas.. City Administrator Carlyle thanked Polk County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance to the Bondurant Fire Department on the recent fires.
Metro Waste Authority Representative Tina Mowry updated the Council on the Curb It! Program. Bondurant’s recycling participation rate has decreased. The trend is that citizens are not recycling as much as they use to. 80% of collected recyclables are paper products. City Officials and the Bondurant City Connection can spread recycling information. Council Member Cordes asked about the

increased tipping fees. The Curb It! Program costs $3 million dollars in central Iowa. Recycling does not pay for itself.
Motion made by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Council Member Williams, to close regular City Council meeting and open public hearing pertaining to the City of Bondurant’s Municipal FY 2001/2002 Budget. Roll Call: Cordes-Yes, Williams-Yes, Thomas-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Valentine-Yes. Motion carried. City Administrator Carlyle reported that no written or verbal comments have been received. Mayor Pro-tem asked for comments from the audience. None were voiced. Motion made by Council Member Williams, seconded by Council Member Thomas, to close the public hearing and open the regular City Council meeting. Roll Call: Williams-Yes, Thomas-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Cordes-Yes. Motion carried.
Motion made by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Council Member Valentine, to approve Resolution No. 01-34, a Resolution approving the FY 2001/2002 Municipal Budget for the City of Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa. Roll Call: Cordes-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Thomas-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Williams-Yes. Motion carried.
Motion made by Council Member Williams, seconded by Council Member Thomas, to approve Resolution No. 01-35, a Resolution approving the Appointments to the Central Iowa Regional Drinking Water Commission. Roll Call: Williams-Yes, Thomas-Yes, Bailey-Yes, Valentine-Yes, Cordes-Yes. Motion carried.

be repaired at the end of April.
v Announced that fire hydrant replacements project will start
