A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Bondurant, Polk County, Iowa, was held in the Community Room at the Bondurant City Center on the 3rd day of July, 2000, at 7:00 p.m.

Absent:                 Council Member David O. Williams

 

Notice of the meeting was posted at the Bondurant City Center, Break Pointe Store, Casey’s General Store, and Farmers Savings Bank on June 30, 2000.  All proceedings here after shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the public.

 

Mayor Ihde called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Roll call was taken and a quorum was declared. 

 

Motion made by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Council Member Valentine, to approve the agenda as presented.  Roll call: Bailey-Yes; Valentine-Yes; Thomas-Yes; Cordes-Yes.  Motion carried.

 

Motion made by Council Member Bailey, seconded by Council Member Cordes, to approve the Consent Items consisting of the City Council Minutes of June 19, 2000, Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes of May 25, 2000, Keep Central Iowa Beautiful Minutes of June 15, 2000, Des Moines Metropolitan Planning Organization Minutes of May 18, 2000 and the Claims Report.   Roll call: Bailey-Yes; Thomas-Yes; Cordes-Yes; Valentine-Yes;   Motion carried.

 

Mr. Greg Byrnes representing Nilles Surveying presented the Council with the Dig America site plan and explained areas of parking, storage and planting of evergreen trees. Motion made by Council Member Valentine, and seconded by Council Member Bailey, to approve Resolution No. 00-54 – a Resolution approving the Site Plan for Dig America, Inc., as presented and recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission. Roll call:  Cordes-Yes; Valentine-Yes; Bailey-Yes; Thomas-Yes;   Motion carried.

 

Motion made by Council Member Thomas, and seconded by Council Member Bailey, to approve Resolution No. 00-55 – a Resolution approving the Contract Agreement between the City of Bondurant and Poock and Siebke, CPA, for Auditing Services, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2000.  City Administrator Carlyle reported that rates did not increase for last year.  Mr. Cordes asked if previous service had been satisifactory.  Responce was yes by both Mayor Ihde and City Administrator Carlyle.  Roll call: Bailey-Yes; Cordes -Yes; Valentine-Yes; Thomas-Yes;  Motion carried.

Motion made by Council Member Valentine, seconded by Council Member Thomas, to close the regular Council Meeting and to open the Public Hearing in consideration of a request to approve the Final Plat for Meadow Brook North Commercial Plat No. 1 and Meadow Brook North Plat No. 14.  Roll call:  Valentine-Yes; Thomas-Yes; Bailey-Yes; Cordes-Yes; Motion carried.

 

Motion made by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Council Member Valentine to recess consideration of a request to approve the Final Plat for Meadow Brook North Commercial Plat No. 1 until the August 7, 2000 meeting. Roll Call:  Cordes-Yes; Valentine-Yes; Bailey-Yes; Thomas-Yes; Motion carried.

 

Motion made by Council Member Bailey, seconded by Thomas to recess consideration of a request to approve the Final Plat for Meadow Brook North Plat No. 14 until the August 7, 2000 meeting.  Roll Call:  Bailey-Yes; Thomas-Yes; Valentine-Yes; Cordes-Yes; Motion carried.

 

Motion made by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Bailey to close the Public Hearning and open the regular City Council Meeting.  Roll call: Cordes-Yes; Bailey-Yes; Thomas-Yes; Valentine-Yes; Motion carried.

 

The following item(s) were discussed as part of Mayor Ihde’s comments:

 

¨      Informed Council of upcoming  Ragbrai volunteer meeting which will be held on July 10, 2000 at 7:00pm at the Bondurant City Center.  Traffic control during Ragbrai inside and outside the city limits has been discussed with Polk County Sheriff’s Department

¨      Informed Council that City of Bondurant web site is now available.  Website address is:

The following item(s) were discussed as part of City Administrator Carlyle’s comments:

 

v     Informed Council of Listing of Board of Directors for 2000 for Eastern Polk Regional Development, Inc.

v     Updated Council on correspondence from Yaggy Colby Associates regarding the City of Bondurant Comprehensive Plan.

 

The following item(s) were discussed as part of Council Members’ comments:

 

§         Council Member Cordes – Acknowledged City Staff for help during Summerfest

§         Council Member Bailey – Asked City Staff to check condition of road at Soccer field.

§         Council Member Thomas – Asked City Staff to check condition of sidewalk at 96 Grant Street, North and condition of road on Grant Street North.

§         Council Member Valentine – Reported kybo tipped over at Lake Petocka

 

Motion made by Council Member Cordes, seconded by Council Member Thomas, to adjourn said meeting at 7:25 p.m.  Roll call: Ayes: 4.  Nays: 0.  Motion carried.
